Tens of thousands of small businesses, defined as those with fewer than five locations, closed forever during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to news reports.
Jamie Dykes, president of the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce, based in Wayne, said those that make it are run by couples, or families, or extended families who work their hearts out. When you walk into these stores, Dykes said, you build relationships with these folks it s part of what gives the town its feel.
