VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI – A former Paw Paw insurance agent was sentenced to probation and house arrest for embezzling money from an elderly client who had dementia.
Brian Lietzau, 60, was sentenced March 15 to 36 months of probation, with six months of house arrest, by Van Buren County Circuit Judge Kathleen Brickley. He is also required to pay $70,000 in restitution.
Lietzau pleaded no contest Feb. 5 to one count of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult, $50,000 or more but less than $100,000, after accepting a plea agreement. Additional felony charges were dismissed as part of the agreement.
