ELKINS Due to recent COVID-19 surges throughout the area, Elkins City Hall will close its doors to the public beginning today to ensure the safety of the public and city employees, who will continue their day-to-day operations.
Mayor Van Broughton ordered the closing on Monday and said he had grave concerns about the current coronavirus surge and that City Hall will remain closed in effect until further notice.
“The only real impact will be that people won’t be able to pay their utility bills and court fines in person,” said City of Elkins External Affairs Specialist Sutton Stokes. “But people can still go online and pay their bills and we have a drop box at city hall as well. We’re going to look at the situation weekly and go from there.”
