Traffic past Milverton Park on Ferguson St could face delays while a sewer pipe is dug up and replaced.
An ancient sewer pipe in Palmerston North’s Ferguson St is being replaced, which will cause delays and detours for traffic around the Milverton Park/Victoria Ave area. The pipe is 115 years old and will be replaced with modern PVC pipe from the Victoria Ave roundabout to Rawhiti Ave. Council transport and infrastructure manager Robert van Bentum said work would start on Monday, February 15, and would take about a month to complete. It would take so long because the pipe was buried two metres deep, and work had to be restricted to daylight hours for health and safety reasons.
