A historic Grade II listed signal box has been given a new lease of life after it fell victim to water damage.
The signal box, located at the Valley Railway Station in Anglesey, was built in December 1867. Peter Cox surveyors recommended essential restoration works were undertaken to ensure the two-storey timber building did not decay further. Faulty guttering had led to water ingress within the signal box. Peter Cox surveyors were called in to assess the damage As wet rot can’t grow without a source of moisture, the first step was to find the source of water ingress to ensure unwanted moisture would not affect any timbers replaced during the restoration. Following this, technicians Paul George and Chris Burke set about restoring the damaged timber.
