A vote to remove GVR s President Don Weaver on Wednesday failed 7-5, but the motion s author said the hard-sell resolution still put the issues on notice.
Former president and Director Charlie Sieck put the motion forward to remove Weaver. He cited several incidents involving Weaver, which Sieck contended embroiled Green Valley Recreation in controversy.

GVR s new CEO Scott Somers told the Board of Directors on Wednesday that a deal concerning the Canoa Hills Clubhouse parking lot is close, and the organization is leaning toward purchasing it. I prepared a term sheet, pretty simple terms, I think they re fairly favorable, frankly, to GVR, he said.
Somers anticipated the GVR Foundation would hear and consider approving the terms during its Feb. 10 meeting. Assuming they are going to approve that, and let s hope they do, then we can bring that agreement back to our board for consideration and possibly approval, he said.

GVR directors stuck to their guns Tuesday on whether they struck a good deal with the purchase of a former golf course clubhouse earlier this year.
In a special meeting they also voted to kill an investigative committee looking into who leaked information to the media during the search for a new CEO.Â
Green Valley Recreation s special meeting didn t add anything new to the fuss over the purchase of the former Canoa Hills clubhouse, and left the test of a good value tabled until the organization strikes a lease agreement with the GVR Foundation on a large parking lot next door.

The Prairie Mountain Community Justice program has recently completed its first referral.
The organization is a restorative justice committee, and serves as a mediator between victims and offenders to help decide a means of restitution that would be satisfactory to both parties. One of the most important (things) is that the restorative justice process provides the victim an empowered voice, said RCMP Staff Sgt. Matt Lavallee. Another is that the accused is truly held responsible for their action when community justice committee members facilitate the process and monitor the client’s progress, and aiding when necessary without enabling.
