Holyoke Gas and Electric spreads holiday cheer with annual 10% customer discount Updated Dec 23, 2020; HOLYOKE – The Holyoke Gas and Electric (HG&E) offered an early-holiday gift for ratepayers with an extra 10% off utility bills paid promptly. The municipally-owned power company began the tradition in 1992, a way to thank customers. The break is needed more than ever as families struggle during the COVID-19 pandemic. The discount covers the December billing cycle. “HG&E is pleased to offer our customers an additional discount during the holidays, especially this year,” James Lavelle said, the utility’s general manager. According to Lavelle, homeowners who heat with natural gas and combined with other savings can expect to save $58 on their bill. The discount is for commercial and residential ratepayers who had not participated in an economic development program.
