The event showed students that jobs in agriculture extend past working on a farm or a ranch, according to Benita Wilson, a science teacher at the middle school.
"I feel like there are so many deserving people," Avery said. "Every principalship has its challenges. I really believe this is a school honor. We have such a phenomenal staff and support from the community and upper-level administration."
In Weld RE-1 School District, gifted and talented elementary and middle school students recently learned about writing and grammar by writing a biography about a personal role model. The culminating event was presenting the role model with the book, helping students bond with their subjects and learn about taking on large tasks in small steps.
North Valley, a Weld RE-1 School District school, was honored by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona in recognition of its high academic outcomes and efforts to close the achievement gap among groups of students.
