Missoula Student Candidate for Presidential Scholars Program
KGVO News spoke with Autumn and her mother Kathrene on Friday about the honor.
Kathrene said she knew her daughter was brilliant at a very early age.
“I knew I was in trouble in kindergarten when I went down into her room and I said, you know, you need to clean your room and she said, ‘Mom, I m too tired to clean’, and I said, ‘well then Autumn, get on your bed and take a nap. Because if you re too tired to clean, then, you know you re too tired to play’. And she looked at me and she said, Mom, Occam’s razor’s not always right.’ I went upstairs and called my husband and said, ‘Who s Occam and why does he have a razor? And why does this mean she can t clean her room?’

Students remained on distance learning to start the new school year, the holidays looked decidedly different and COVID-19 continued to impact every aspect of people’s lives as the second half of 2020 unfolded. Here are excerpts from some of the top stories from The Oakdale Leader, July to December.

We are excited to send out birthday greetings to a very special young woman! Miss Callie Chrisman will turn sweet 16 this coming week! Callie is a kind-hearted and caring person who loves to help others. This energetic young woman is the current president of our Valley Home 4-H club. Callie also serves as a teen ambassador for 4-H. Callie has led several community service projects, the most recent being well stocked Thanksgiving baskets with donations from club members. Callie sets a great example for the younger generation and her peers. She is always first to volunteer for community activities and events. Upon entering high school, Callie shared with her parents that she would like to do high school a little differently. She is not only a high school student but taking college classes at the same time and recently earned a 3.8 in high school and a 3.7 GPA for her first college semester! Callie loves to challenge herself and is succeeding!
