Providence Brewing landlord says he decided on new direction
NORTH PROVIDENCE – The town’s claim to fame in the local craft brewery scene has moved on, with the Providence Brewing Company now heading to the capital city it’s named after.
Owner Efren Hidalgo said he has nothing but best wishes for landlord Joe Iaciofano as Providence Brewing leaves his building at 1920 Mineral Spring Ave., diagonally across from the town’s old public safety complex.
Hidalgo characterized the departure as an eviction, but Iaciofano said he never evicted the brewery. Iaciofano said though Hidalgo wanted to stay, the building owner decided not to renew the company’s lease after coming up with new plans for the space, allowing the brewery to stay through Jan. 15.
