Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik, Belarus' Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi, as well as St. Petersburg Vice Governor Valery Moskalenko laid flowers at the monuments and the Eternal Flame.
The president and the ambassador discussed two important topics: further work in international bodies with a focus on economic affairs in the Eurasian Economic Union and the operation of the commission on the export of Belarusian goods.
Nadezhda Lazarevich added: “We've also discussed a number of economic matters regarding which we are going to build relations next year in order to increase trade turnover between Minsk and St Petersburg.”
Piotr Parkhomchik said: “We regularly meet and it has a serious effect on our relations. We did very well in 2021. We secured a good increase in trade turnover. This dynamics continued into this year. We believe that all the prerequisites are in place for reaching the trade turnover of $2 billion this year.”
Piotr Parkhomchik said: “In particular, the agricultural machinery manufacturing industry is working very well. It is due to food security of many countries. As our agricultural manufacturers sometimes joke, tractors and harvesters are selling like hot cakes now.”
