Professor of Biology Justin Wright will serve as the next Graduate Dean for Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, according to a Feb. 18 announcement from Dean Valerie Ashby.
Into her 40s, Dr. Valerie Ashby had what would be considered a successful career at any institution. She had been promoted to full professor and was on her way to becoming chair of the Chemistry Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her alma mater. “I have the job of my dreams. I’m back at my home institution, living my best life,” said Ashby, now 55 and Dean of Duke Trinity College of Arts & Sciences since 2015. “Inside, I’m torn up.”
