Electoral alliances taking part in the October 2021 local elections in the eastern Estonian towns of Kohtla-Järve and Jõhvi obtained discounts of well over 90 percent when placing campaign ads in a local free paper owned by a businessman in the town who is at the center of the corruption case which started to unfold last week.
Aleksei Jevgrafov, former mayor of Narva and member of Reform during the early 2000s, is in talks about standing as a candidate for the Center Party in the upcoming Riigikogu elections.
The Center Party lost a third of their local government council seats in Kohtla-Järve and must now find a partner to join them for a coalition. At the same time, it is also possible for the long-time city government leader to fall into opposition.
