Brandon City Council voted to approve the renovation of the finance department at city hall at a cost of $177,000 at Monday’s council meeting.
Acting city manager Dean Hammond and city director of finance Val Rochelle explained during the meeting that the finance department is the last part of city hall yet to be renovated.
Over the years, they said it has become apparent that the current layout no longer meets the department’s efficiency and safety needs.
The renovations will improve accessibility in the department for customers with mobility issues, institute a cubicle-style layout to accommodate physical distancing and make it easier for customers and staff to interact.
