SHELTON The Shelton Trails Committee will be holding a work party on Saturday along the Oak Valley Trail.
The work will begin at 9 a.m., with the focus on temporarily rerouting a section of the Oak Valley Trail. Interested volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. where the power lines cross Route 108 just west of the Shelton Dog Park.
Parts of the trail can be wet, especially at this time of year, so plan footwear accordingly. An assortment of tools will be available but volunteers can bring their own clippers and loppers.

SHELTON The Shelton Trails Committee is hosting a work party along the Birchbank Trail on Saturday.
The lower section of Birchbank Trail includes one stretch that becomes a muddy mess at this time of year, making navigation difficult and slippery, organizers said.
So the work party will focus on rerouting around the problem, shoring up the existing trail, or some combination of the two.
Interested volunteers should meet at the Birchbank Trailhead at 9 a.m. The trailhead is located about a mile past the entrance to the beach at Indian Well State Park, where Indian Well Road crosses the railroad tracks. The trailhead is just before the railroad tracks, and there is parking on the left immediately after crossing the tracks.

SHELTON The Trails Committee is holding a work party on the Paugusset Trail at Sinsabaugh Heights on Saturday.
The Paugussett Trail from Mayflower Drive to Indian Well always gets overgrown quickly, and it did not get much attention this year, according to the committee. Volunteers are needed to work on clearing that area.
Those interested in volunteering are asked to meet at 9 a.m. at the lower parking lot at Sinsabaugh Heights off Meadow Street.
