Police have identified the deceased as Vaishnavi Wader, 4, and her mother as Kalpi. The incident was reported at around 9 pm on Monday in Sasane Nagar.
The mother and the daughter were living in a rented apartment in the Hadapsar area. The police said they were investigating the reason behind the murder.
