Philippines International IDEA’s partnerships with the University of the Philippines led to several public fora attended by different sectors discussing the importance of a constitution in a democracy and the issues involved in constitutional design/re-design amidst proposals to revise the Philippines’ 1987 Constitution. International IDEA’s constitutional performance assessment tool also enabled us to assess the 1987 Constitution since its enactment until COVID-19 and suggest ways to further improve its role in democratization and social justice.
