president trump s travel ban? will they lift that and let it go into effect or put that in place? also, will they hear the merits of this case? that might not come until tuesday or later. all right. there is another topic for court watchers right now. right. the justices anthony kennedy, what are you hearing in that regard? he is a famous swing vote. that s right, and our most critical justice but also our most vacillating justice. and he has been there nearly 30 years. he has definitely thought about retirement. at this point this late in the term that we might see him stay for one more year. we don t know. last night, he was with some law clerks of his at a reunion and he didn t drop any hints. in fact, he sort of joked about the fact that he didn t have that kind of announcement coming yet. we just don t know. joan bikupic, thank you so much. sure. she is 93 years old and so
for, as you say, clean energy, whether it s solar or wind power. and as the u.s. not to say americans companies will get out of that, but to the degree this president is trying to get america out of it, it s going to increase the interest in the market that the chinese think for their products and their industry and there s going to be a lot of jobs there one could argue as the wave of the future, more jobs down the line. shepard: we know some of the people and forces in play here trying to influence the president, as there always are on every issue. this had been a campaign promise. the last couple days, chris i know you heard it because i ve seen it on fox news reporting that the president might have been vacillating. sounded like he might have a little bit for everyone in this thing. it was interesting we ve seen this before with this president. just exam, nafta. his staff put out word that he was going to pull out of nafta. at the last minute, he got phone
to that campaign promise. democrats have seized on that decision, uniting around a pledge not to cooperate on any rewriting of the tax code unless they know specifically how that revision would benefit the billionaire president and his family themselves. in other words, democrats are saying no taxes, no tax reform. join me right now are two white house reporters, eli stokols and aisha or orozco. now, nothing on tax reform unless we see your taxes to see how it affects you. the republicans have struggled to move the ball on any legislative priority even with control of both the senate and the house. we ve seen that on health care, and i think on tax reform and you see the president vacillating, going back and forth saying we re done with health care. now we re going back to tax reform or health care, that
the president to do, by the way. which they have now changed their position. donald trump himself said the president must get congressional approval before attacking syria. big mistake if he does not. that was in august 30 of 2013. then he said, very again to our very foolish leader. do not attack syria. if you do, very bad things happen. he then said, president obama do not attack sear yeah. he kept saying it. now not only does he think he can do it, but the republicans say sure, go for it. this is the only way they re consistent, which is that they will attack a democratic president for doing nothing and they ll attack him for doing anything. and they will always be on the attack that way. president obama did what donald trump urged him to do. and then afterwards, donald trump and other republicans, consistently attacked him as being weak. and vacillating. for not doing something at the time about syrian chemical weapons attack. which was, by the way, 20 times as bad as the one
worse. to me this is really from day one, declaring war on donald trump. on the trumpet administration and on the person who was legitimately elected by the people of the united states, it is a terribly, terribly dangerous path they are going down. harris: to the president-elect s point, though, it would be interesting if these congressional members had to bring their tickets to the person and say look, these are my tickets, this is why i m not coming. it seems like there are some who are sitting on the sidelines, we know that elizabeth warren of massachusetts has kind of man well, i m not sure if i m going. she was vacillating for a bit. so i get the feeling, and i don t know what prompted her final decision, that there is some political like what is going on in the background? peter: i think again, if you look at people of ohio, wisconsin, michigan, that is where the elected election was decided, they don t support this. the houses appealing to the narrow basis, for the most part
