The Covid Vaccine - India’s New Metaphor Of Variety and Subsets The Vaccine mirrors India
The metaphor is a useful literary and cognitive tool; it can, in just one image, idea or phrase convey more than a historian or writer can in a thousand words.
To take some examples from our own country: the white Gandhi cap in the 1930s and 1940s reflected our collective desire for independence; in the 1950s the Bhakra Dam became the metaphor for modernisation; the Green Revolution in the 60s reflected our efforts at food self sufficiency; the Emergency in 1975 was a synonym for political overreach; in the 80s and early 1990s the Maruti 800 was a metaphor for our industrial resurgence; the cell phone was the symbol of our coming of age in the digital world in the first decade of the new millenium; Vijay Malya and Nirav Modi encapsulated the corruptness of our political and financial eco system in the second decade.
Maldives to consider introducing Vaccine Tourism Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated that the government is contemplating the introduction of ‘Vaccine Tourism’ in the Maldives.
Responding to lawmakers’ questions at Wednesday’s parliament sitting, Dr. Mausoom said while the tourism industry has been promoting Maldives as a ‘Work and Vacation’ destination in the midst of the current global pandemic, the government is considering promoting the Maldives with the tagline, ‘Visit, Vaccine and Vacation’.
The currently available COVID-19 vaccines require two doses of the vaccine to be received within a 3-4 week interval. Therefore, a significant duration of time passes between the administration of the two doses. If tourists stay in the Maldives during that duration, it would be very beneficial for the industry, said the minister.

As I said, eleven people out of more than 9,000 obviously isn’t an army, but this phenomenon is being reported at vaccination sites across the state and they do add up after a while. Karen Kaiser, the nurse quoted in the CBS report, isn’t making a big deal about it. She’s quoted as saying, “
This is really no time to be the vaccine police.”
I suppose that’s a healthy and generous attitude to have, providing the centers aren’t running out of doses for residents. But the entire strategy of vaccine distribution from the beginning was based on allocations to the states based on population. Texas is getting more doses of the vaccines than all but a few states, but that’s because they’ve got so many more people to vaccinate.

It’s been more than a year since the first case of the novel coronavirus was reported. After months under lockdown and millions of cases, the world is celebrating the approval of various vaccines. With another strain now spreading, the pandemic is far from over, but countries are making headway in overcoming this virus and travelers are adapting.
Since various vaccines have been launched, they have been changing the opinion around travel, but there’s a whole new concept that’s become part of the discussion: Vaccine tourism. Vaccine tourism means visiting another country or state to get a vaccine not available in the particular country. Right now, vaccine tourism is all about the COVID-19 vaccine, which has had a slow rollout in many countries and isn’t yet available worldwide.
