Expert Comment – Routine chickenpox vaccine recommended for children across UK

The UK’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has recommended the use of a universal varicella (chickenpox) vaccine as part of routine childhood vaccinations, according to an announcement from the UK Government’s Department of Health and Social Care.It is recommended that the vaccination should be given as a two-dose programme offered to children between the ages of 12 and 18 months in the UK, as part of a combined measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMRV) vaccine.
