Kathleen Depoorter, a member of the Belgian Federal Parliament, appeared on the TRT Roundtable programme to discuss what reputational damage the ongoing coronavirus vaccine crisis is having on the European Union. Ms Depoorter acknowledged that compared to countries such as the UK and Israel, which have implemented speedy vaccination programmes, the EU s own rollout was not the best in the class.

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon was left shaking her head during her coronavirus briefing on Thursday after being mocked over the slow pace of Scotland s vaccine rollout. Rupert Evelyn from ITV poked fun at the First Minister saying how everyone was delighted to hear Scotland had finally caught up with the rest of the UK regarding vaccination statistics. Mr Evelyn also stated there were still an awful lot of people yet to receive a dose, a reflected that appeared to irk Ms Sturgeon still further.

The Minister also set out the ways in which the UK was well placed to track the latest mutations and vowed to respond to any challenge the virus may bring.
He said: We have the largest genome sequencing industry, we are about 50 per cent of the World genome sequencing industry. And we are keeping a library of all the variants so that we are ready to respond whether in the Autumn or beyond to any challenge that the virus may present. So we can always protect the United Kingdom and of course offer it to the rest of the world.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen decision to threaten to trigger Article 16 of the Brexit deal has left frustration and head-scratching in Westminster according to Laura Kuenssberg.
