Fertilizing houseplants can be resumed in April, after a period of no fertilization from October to March. Most potting mixes have little soil and few nutrients, so it is important to apply fertilizer. Synthetic water-soluble products and liquid organic fertilizers are recommended, as well as synthetic slow-release fertilizers. Different plants have different fertilization needs.
