BJP MPs to bring bill on population control, UCC BJP MPs to bring bill on population control, UCC NEW DELHI, July 12: BJP MPs will introduce private members’ bills on population control and Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament, according to information from the Secretariats of both Houses. The private members’ bill on population control comes close on the heels of the law commission of BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in the country, putting up a draft bill on the issue on its website, inviting suggestions from the public till July 19. BJP Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh Ravi Kishan and Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan Kirori Lal Meena are scheduled to introduce the private members’ bills on population control and uniform civil code respectively in the very first week of the Parliament session which is starting from July 19.

Prayagraj: Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP), the apex decision-making body of the 13 recognised Hindu religious akharas or monastic orders of the country, has supported the proposed new population policy being brought by the Yogi government. “Population explosion is a matter of deep concern. The government should come out with a strict law to control the population and the same should be binding on every citizen living in the state as well as the entire country,” ABAP president Mahant Narendra Giri said in a statement issued to the media on Monday. Giri said, “The rapid population explosion in the country and the state is also the reason for many major problems. Therefore, it is very important that the ever-increasing population should be stopped immediately.”

12 Jul 2021 The government of northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state unveiled draft legislation on Sunday proposing a “two-child” policy that would punish couples who choose to have more than two children, India’s NDTV news site reported on Monday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the state’s new population control draft bill on July 11 shortly after state officials uploaded a copy of the document to the Uttar Pradesh government website. “The Uttar Pradesh government will give [job] promotions, [salary] increments, concessions in housing schemes and others perks to [state] employees who adhere to population control norms, and have two or less children,” the draft legislation, titled the “Uttar Pradesh Population (Control, Stabilization and Welfare) Bill, 2021,” states.
