Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has revived 27 cremation grounds across different areas of Guwahati with a budget of over Rs 20 lakh each. The grounds now feature regular water supply, seating arrangements, sheds, additional cremation furnaces, and store rooms. Improvements include road construction, sheds, additional furnaces, and storage provisions. Plans to beautify the grounds with tree planting are in progress. Some concerns raised about theft at the crematorium grounds.
A 10-year-old boy in Morigaon district was allegedly subjected to acid pouring by a nurse at a hospital, causing distress and injury. The incident led to a police complaint and investigation to determine the nature of the liquid used.
