54 released on Janikhel elders demand: minister - Pakistan

Photo by Sirajuddin LAKKI MARWAT: The government has released 54 tribesmen who were arrested by the police during a clash with Janikhel protesters near Tochi Bridge, Bannu, on Wednesday last, said provincial transport minister Malik Shah Mohammad Khan on Saturday. The minister told mediapersons that Janikhel elders had demanded release of the arrested men during talks with the administration and police authorities and tribal chiefs of other tribes and the government accepted their demand. The negotiations between the administration and Janikhel elders remained inconclusive on the fourth consecutive day as the protesting tribesmen stayed along Baran Bridge.

Afghan refugees want anti-Covid-19 vaccination

Peshawar May 25, 2021 CHARSADDA: The lives of Afghan refugees residing in Charsadda district are in danger while they are also posing a potential threat to others as the Health Department has not yet started their vaccination against the Covid-19 virus. Afghan refugees Hameedullah, Shafiq Ahmad and others, who are residing in a camp in Utmanzai in Charsadda district, have expressed concern over the non-vaccination of refugees. They said they were worried about their own lives while they could also become a potential cause to the fast-spreading viral infection to others if they were not vaccinated in time. They said that around 800 families comprising over 6,000 individuals were residing in Afghan Refugee Camp in Utmanzai but they felt insecure as their vaccination against Covid-19 disease had not started yet. It may be mentioned that there are total of three Afghan refugee camps in the Charsadda district.

Two killed as car ambushed in Charsadda - Newspaper

CHARSADDA: Two persons were killed and three injured when a car was ambushed in Bochay Pull area of Tangi tehsil here on Friday. The police identified the victims as Noor Muhammad of Utmanzai and his nephew, Sadiq of Prang Ghar. They said the victims, who died on the spot, were going home. The police said the firing also caused injuries to three passersby identified as Samiullah, Azam and Khial Badshah. The bodies and the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Tangi, wherefrom two of the injured were referred to a Peshawar hospital. According to the local people and police, the double murder was the result of a property dispute between rival groups.
