With this renewed focus, the ministry said it is aiming to position Malaysia as the driving force of Asia's new economy, and to be the leading trade and investment hub for top businesses worldwide.
KUALA LUMPUR: On Jan 10 this year, Malaysia's new landmark, the Merdeka 118 Tower, held its opening ceremony in the capital. The tower sets a new record for the tallest building in Southeast Asia and is the second tallest building in the world.
"Proper execution of NIMP is increasingly pertinent for Malaysia to continue enhancing its national business and investment landscape competitiveness," Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul said.
UAE-based clean energy company Masdar has signed an agreement with Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) to invest $8bn for up to ten gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects.
