Notnt to graduate School Planning to do womens history, but it was 1970 and the Womens Movement had begun to affect my life. Person to be in that first generation of grad students who had wonderful mentors. Never took a class in womens history because there were not to any. But i assisted the first class. The first year i was in riot school, i kept getting a signed , the womens classes. Weird thing happened which was i began some indefinable barrier some indefinable barrier begin to dissolve between me and my work. Was in the university of michigan History Department one day and i said to a friend of mine, i am really getting into womens history. Into this very prominent historian stack is said outside the door and he said, womens history . That is the history of dishwashing. In a my first reaction was i was very angry and i thought, women have done all of the great angst men have.
