Utah home builder opts for no bidding wars when selling its houses

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — At a time of intense competition for housing in Utah, one builder is taking an unconventional approach to selling homes. Goldcrest Homes, a newer company owned by industry veterans, has decided to avoid bidding wars when selling its homes. Case in point the builder recently listed the first of 87 homes for sale at its England Ridge subdivision in Tooele. Many willing buyers came ready to bid, but that didn’t sit well with company owners. “It just didn’t seem right to turn them away or have them bid against each other and bid the price up to the moon,” said Kristen Mortensen, Goldcrest Homes owner and general contractor.
