A Republican senator is threatening a lawsuit claiming the Utah County Republican Party wasted his time and resources on a race that ultimately ended with his opponent being disqualified.

The state elections office has chastised the Utah County clerk for filling in the party affiliation of a candidate s filing form after the state-imposed filing deadline had passed.
After three days of candidates filing for federal and state races, Utah has some pretty interesting races shaking out. A rare open Senate seat has, of course, attracted a lot of interest. As of Thursday evening, there were seven Republicans, one Democrat and one Independent American who had filed.
