New research suggests that fisheries managers could expand recreation capacity for anglers in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way by personality-profiling them by recreation type. Survey results show that there are five types of anglers in Utah: Explorers, Social Anglers, Catch-Focused Anglers, Ambivalent Anglers and Catch & Consumers. Offering people specific resources they need to have a great day on the water helps managers devise recreation solutions that boost the sustainability of Utah’s fisheries while meeting the fundamental motivations of the public, hopefully winning public support along the way.
