Paul Broadie started his job as Santa Fe College president just six weeks before COVID-19 closed down the campus, the start of a year that has seen challenges but also remarkable highlights. It was really a good experience for me as president to watch a whole college mobilize and do the right thing. Broadie said. We have a very caring institution. That has accelerated my listening and learning.
Broadie took over as college president in February 2020 after being unanimously elected by the district board of trustees. He replaced Jackson Sasser, who saw the college s reputation peak in 2015 with the Aspen Prize for national excellence.

Drive-thru held for annual foster holiday event
Allie Cockrell, handing holiday gifts to foster families as they drove through the University City Church of Christ parking lot Sunday, said she understood just how important the act meant for foster children.
Cockrell, a 19-year-old Santa Fe College student, grew up in foster care before her forever family adopted her.
“We had something like this when I was growing up,” she said. “Some of the families can’t afford a ton of presents every year, especially right now with the pandemic, and being out here shows that older kids in the community care.”
