Walter Mondale: Former US Vice President dies aged 93
Walter Mondale, former vice president to Jimmy Carter, has died at the age of 93, according to a statement from his family. He lost the 1984 presidential election to Ronald Reagan by a landslide.

Former United States Vice President Walter Mondale, who served under Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981, died on Monday at the age of 93.
Mondale is probably best remembered for losing one of the most uneven presidential elections in recent history, to a Ronald Reagan who was at the height of his popularity.

In an unprecedented reaction to the U.S. presidential elections, thousands of President Donald J. Trump’s supporters gathered Washington, D.C. Wednesday.
As Congress counted Electoral College votes, confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s win, Trump supporters pushed through the barriers at the front of the Capitol building. Although Capitol police attempted to quell the actions to break through, the numbers of those protesters involved made it difficult.
The building tension could be heard through those close to the president with his lawyer, Rudy Gulliani stating “Let’s have trial by combat,” and the president himself tweeting that “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our country and our Constitution.”
