Sony WF-1000XM4 wireless earbuds might launch soon

(Pocket-lint) - Sony looks set to upgrade its flagship true wireless range soon, with the Sony WF-1000XM4.  A prototype of noise-canceling earbuds from Sony with the model number YY2948 has been certified by the US Federal Communication Commission and Bluetooth SIG, revealing a couple of interesting upgrades. Sony s yet-to-be-announced earphones will support Bluetooth 5.2, which could result in better battery life due to its lower-power usage and wider bandwidth to transmit data. This could also result in improvements to audio, too. The FCC filings further reveal the earbuds sport a new MediaTek MT2822S chip, which might pack an updated digital signal processor, hardware ANC, feedforward mics, and voice prompts. It s worth noting that, by using MediaTek over Qualcomm, the Sony WF-1000XM4 might lack aptX and aptX HD support. That said, The Walkman Blog thinks the processor s higher-power consumption ratings suggest LDAC support is on board.

Did Google just leak the Pixel Buds A in an email?

(Pocket-lint) - The latest leak to reveal what Google might be developing has come from the company itself. According to 9to5Google, a new marketing email from Google to Nest users included an image of dark green Pixel Buds. The report suggested these are the yet-to-be-announced Pixel Buds A wireless earbuds. They aren’t part of the existing Pixel Buds lineup, which does include a Quite Mint colour. It s assumed the Pixel Buds A would sit below Google s second-generation Pixel Buds.  Keep in mind US Federal Communication Commission listings of a new Pixel Buds-like device recently surfaced. There have also been reports about Google working on a new pair of earbuds that will be very similar to the current $179 Pixel Buds. The main difference is that Pixel Buds A should be available in white and green. The green model will be much darker than the Quint Mint model.
