The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 (TVPA) requires the Secretary of State to submit an annual TIP report to Congress. The goal of this report is to stimulate action and create partnerships around the world in the fight against trafficking in persons. The Department of State determined that while the Government of Fiji does not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking, it is making significant efforts to do so. The government demonstrated overall increasing efforts compared to the previous reporting period, considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its anti-trafficking capacity; therefore, Fiji was upgraded to Tier 2.
