“Come on guys, show your face,” she says.
There is immediate squawking and honking as two geese, two hens and a rooster reluctantly waddle in from outside.
“Faster. A little faster,” Daguin begs. But her charges show little inclination to follow orders. “Yes, it’s a stranger,” she continues. “I know you don’t like strangers. Phoebe,” she addresses one of the hens, “come on.”
Domi, Lucy, Pearl, Phoebe and Tony know they can misbehave because they are house pets and in no danger of ending up like their fellow geese and chickens, neatly packaged in a nearby warehouse and ready for shipment to high-end restaurants around the country.
