Players of Saif Sporting Club and Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited vie for the ball during their Walton Federation Cup quarter-final match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Saturday.
Saif Sporting Club reached semi-final of the ongoing season’s curtain raiser Walton Federation Cup 2020 beating Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited by 7-6 goals in the second quarter-final at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on Saturday.
The day s match went into penalty shootout after both the teams Saif and Mohammedan failed to score a match-decider in the additional time of 30 minutes after locking horns at 2-2 goals in the stipulated 90 minutes.

Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Federation Cup champions Bashundhara Kings for the third consecutive time earned License for AFC Cup 2021 this year. Besides, three Bangladeshi clubs namely Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd, BPL runners-up Dhaka Abahani Ltd and Saif Sporting Club, also secured the license.
According to the AFC bylaws, a club needs to earn a license to take part in the AFC Cup every year. Also, a club has to meet five criteria namely sporting, infrastructure, administrative, legal and finance to acquire the license. Kings are the first Bangladeshi club that have been completing this annual licensing process successfully since 2018.
