Today, December 8, marks the Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception in the Catholic Church. The meaning given behind the religious day of obligation, according to the teaching of the Catholic Church, is that this day marked the conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the womb of her mother, Saint Anne, free from original sin by virtue of the foreseen merits of her son Jesus Christ.
