Our CorrespondentImphal, Oct. 29 (EMN): Manipur minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry Nemcha Kipgen on Saturday flagged off a cycle rally from Kangla Western Gate, Imphal held as a part of the upcoming Manipur International Textiles Expo (MANITEX), 2022. Over 100 bikers participated in the rally, including handloom weavers, handicrafts artisans, celebrity and enthusiastic members with an aim to spread the message of the upcoming event MANITEX, 2022 coupled with an objective towards promoting and preserving cultural heritage to weavers, artisans, textile workers and consumers. MANITEX will be held from November 5 to the 14th, 2022 at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi. During the flag off event, Kipgen expressed gratitude to all participants for extending support to MANITEX, 2022. She further urged all the people of the state to encourage and use local handloom and handicrafts products to further contribute to the socio-economic development of Manipur. Dimapur, Oct. 26 (EMN): A six-day exhibition organised by the Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) and sponsored by the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, got underway on October 26 at Urban Haat in Dimapur. An update from NHHDC informed that a total of 50 participants from Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and other districts of Nagaland are participating in the exhibition by showcasing varieties of handcraft items. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Sukhato A Sema, retired principal director of Health and Family Welfare. The main objective of the exhibition was to develop and promote marketing channels in domestic and export markets and bring about linkage between the two in a holistic and integrated manner.
Our Reporter Dimapur, Oct.9 (EMN): Two police personnel from 6th Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) battalion, rescued a woman who had jumped into Dhansiri River near Urban Haat in Dimapur on October 7. The two personnel were 35-year-old Tingzang Konyak from Shangsa village and 30-year-old Ting-O Konyak from Ngangting village. Tingzang Konyak told Eastern Mirror that they had gone to the market on Oct.7, and while returning, they saw a huge crowd gathered at Dhansiri Bridge, which had also caused a traffic jam, at around 12 pm. The duo, who are both from Tizit in Mon district, stopped their bike to see what was going on. On enquiry, they were told that a woman had jumped into the river in a bid to allegedly commit suicide. Dimapur, Oct. 7 (EMN): A seven-day handicraft exhibition organised by the Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (NHHDC Ltd.) and sponsored by the development commissioner (Handicrafts) Ministry of Textiles, got underway at Urban Haat in Dimapur on October 7. An update informed that general manager, NHHDC Ltd., K Yehoshe Aomi, inaugurated the exhibition. A total of 50 participants from Assam, Manipur and from the various districts of the Nagaland are exhibiting varieties of hand crafted products in their respective stalls. “The main aim and objective of the exhibition is to develop and promote marketing channels in domestic and export markets and bring about linkage between the two in a holistic and integrated manner. It is also serves to provide marketing opportunities to handicraft artisans,” it stated.
Padmashree (Handloom) L Subadani Devi encouraged the artisans of the state to produce more eye-catching items and bring more laurels in the state by winning national and international awards.
