State Minister inspects A’pura North Phase I Water Project Daily News (via HT Media Ltd.)
The government is endeavouring to provide potable water to every family in the country by 2024. There are three mega water supply projects emerging in the Anuradhapura District under this programme - Anuradhapura North Phase I and II and Thambuththegama Water Projects. The projects cost around Rs. 48,000 million. The Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) and the Chinese Government have offered financial aid for the projects, Renewable Energy Sources Development State Minister Duminda Dissanayake said.
The State Minister was addressing the media following an official observation tour at the water purification plant of the Anuradhapura North Phase I Water Project which is under construction close to Maha Kanadarawa Reservoir which is the main water source for Phase I. It was revealed that an additional volume of water would be supplied to the Mahakanadarawa Tank
