we have 20 states with flash flood warning. it looks like when it gets in toward the smokies and areas of the blue ridge and appalachians it could stretch a lot of rain, or wring out a lot of rainfall for several stays including parts of pennsylvania. also the corridor for i-95 between philadelphia and new york we could see a good 5 inches of rain. the national weather service took over in jacksonville and they ve issued this heat advisory. they actually had to lower the threshold. typically, sure, it is hot and humid. you have heat index values near upper 90s, near 100. when millions are without power it is going to cause big concerns, heat exhaustion and heat stroke. heat stroke is actually the leading killer, weather-related killer across the world. the last thing we need besides those injured with search and rescue efforts is to have more patience in hospital. you can even see baton rouge,
the other concern with over a million customers without power, that s actually millions of people. a customer is a home or it s a business. now, anderson, take a look at this. day after day temperatures rg going to be near 90, but with all of this water on the ground the humidity levels will be through the roof. that gives us heat index values in the upper 90s, near 100, day after day after day. that in itself is going to be a life-threatening situation. so again, it s unfortunately this is still unfolding and it s just going to guess worse for some until we can get power restored and we can get some supplies and the help that they need. tom sater, appreciate it. tom, thanks. i want to go next to cnn s gary tuchman in new orleans with two people who he has met. gary? reporter: well, anderson, first what i ll tell you is what happened to this house in uptown new orleans exactly 25 hours ago, it s a very sad story. but it s also an incredible and amazing story. 49-year-old dart stova
