Indian tourists can now purchase tickets for the iconic Eiffel Tower and pay through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), said NPCI International Payments Limited. The acceptance of UPI in France opens up more opportunities for merchants across France and Europe operating in the tourism and retail sectors, NPCI International added.
The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has been formally launched at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Indian Embassy in France said on Friday and termed it as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "vision of taking UPI global."
It is believed that this partnership will help accelerate UPI’s global acceptance, providing foreign merchants access to Indian customers who do not need to rely on foreign currency or forex cards for making digital payments.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe have signed an agreement to bring Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to Sri Lanka.
