the evening drive, from new york city, up i-95 heading through connecticut and massachusetts and into maine, that is going to be a soaking slow drive, as we go throughout the evening. the timing of all of this mess, during the day today, there is the rain we showed you this through this evening with the travel delays, and then as we go into tomorrow, that was part one, and part two comes through the southeast. and if you notice, the backside of this, at the same time this storm is moving to the south, cold air is pushing in. with a narrow band of snow in the north side of this. maybe northern portions of mississippi. and even nashville could get a little bit of snow on the backside of this. and as we go into wednesday morning, that s when it looks like the cold transition moves into dc, philadelphia, and new york. this is the radar for 8:00 a.m. wednesday morning, showing snow in southern new england and new york and philly and dc and the temperatures on the surface of the roads will b
weather now with nbc meteorologist bill karens. you re tracking some storms in the northeast and some heat out in the west. we got a little bit of everything. may even have a tropical system in the gulf. our friends in louisiana, mississippi, texas need to pay attention to that too. let s start with the immediate threat this afternoon and this evening. it s going to be severe storms going to the east. right now it s just rain and showers heading through areas of ohio, also new west virginia and back towards pittsburgh. it looks like rochester and syracuse. later today as the cold front nears, the heat and humidity is in place. you ll feel it again today. all the way up i-95 through all the big cities. 60 million people at risk. this orange color means it s an enhanced risk. the coverage and the severe storms and the damage report will be the most widespread in this area later today. that s a lot of the big cities and a lot of high population centers. damaging winds will be the concer
