that would defeat her in massachusetts, but as you mention president trump brings it up. would it have more of an impact nationally? would people across the nation view that differently? this is a party wide problem, and retiring democrats have been pointing out that one the democrats start talking about medicare for all in the whole party moves, they start losing middle america. i want to point out that medicare for all is a bernie sanders bill. and kamala harris and cory booker, and elizabeth warren, and they have all sided with this bill. we should be clear right here that it is not medicare for all, it is medicare for none. that bill gets rid of medicare as it is it exists today and gets rid of private insurance. so how are they going to run on something that is literally going to rip up medicare for the elderly. you have to win over middle america, and resisting president trump and not trying to figure out how they lost it. we are going to bring britt mchenry in here befor
dicey. totally. i argue that president obama did not create the idea that health care is a right, it is that people that coked up medicare. that is a single-payer it is going broke in a few years. donald trump does not want to fix it. it is problem number one. but it is an entitlement to not like medicare. a little bit more free markets. what the problem is politically in the repeal and the replace that in the senate they only have 52 republican senators. and you can only use reconciliation where you need a majority vote for things related to the budget and taxes. they are going to need for a full replacement, they are going to need democrats purple repeal, they are going to need some democrats. if they repeal some of it and it collapses in on itself. there republicans on the collapse. not the democrats.
get the act together. ta-da! blame everybody in that town excludeing you, of course, mark. but the reality of the situation is that it would be enough blame to go around. president bringing up medicare and social security, as well. being concerned of what do you cut and who ends up hurt in all of this? what s the likely next step given the reaction from speaker boehner and senator mitch mcconnell minutes after the president s remarks? tamron, i mean, most likely we have a brinksmanship and every type of issue there is. president obama was saying we shouldn t be doing that anymore. but chances are that there will be some type of last-minute deal to be able to have a death defying act to avoid all of this. president obama said i want to put this aside. the debt ceiling increase and republicans have pointed out time and time again, president obama when you push him, he ll concede to be able to get a deal. and that was a big lesson we learned in the fiscal cliff debate. president obama
poor people alone to become poor programs. and that s why medicare has been so successful. because it s broadly based. and it s popular because every single one of us knows that when we get older, we are likely to get sicker. and it s going to be harder and harder for us to buy private health insurance. that s why we had government step in to ensure the elderly. and it s why romney and ryan realize they got a problem on this which is why they re trying to pretend that president obama is somehow slashing up medicare. he s not the guy who s against medicare in this election. now, the republicans are actually on a congressional level trying to run away from this. because voters understand this. when you look at chris collins taking on a new york rep, kathy hochul and he refuses to take a point on the plan.
trillion-dollar debt directly effects them. the romney-ryan ticket needs to clarify that, how the debt, the spending, all of that effects each american. they need to clarify that if they want to win. secondly, the republics have to convince independent voters that they will not hurt them economically because the democrats are saying that all day long. some senior citizens, for example, fear paul ryan because he wants to reform medicare. what president obama does, instead of shoring up medicare s finances is he taking money from medicare to spend on obama care. here is the issue, bret, the president can t run on his record. it s a failure of leadership. there are no jobs being created, 23 million people are struggling to find work. he promised unemployment would be below 8%. it s been above 8% entire election. he promised to cut the deficit in half. 4 trillion-dollar plus deficits. he can t run on his record. bill: now, mr. ryan is good at marginalizing the
