Noida-Gzb Blue Line Metro: The extension will see the Dwarka Sector 21-Noida Electronic City corridor being extended across the Delhi-Meerut Expressway via Indirapuram and Vaishali to Sahibabad in Ghaziabad.
An independent survey commissioned by the Meerut divisional commissioner to uncover illegal constructions within Vasundhara township in Ghaziabad found over 5,000 multi-storey buildings on single-use plots. While the state government prepares to take appropriate action, the violations highlight potential laxity on the part of UP Housing Board officials and developers.
Ghaziabad tops the list of India’s most polluted cities several times in a year. Abhijay Jha lists 5 immediate priorities for the city to shake off this dubious distinction and bring a breath of fresh air to its pollution-control strategies Build an
e-waste plant in Loni
One of the biggest pollution sources in Delhi-NCR, the way electronic waste is disposed off in Loni beggars belief in a region that’s supposed to have the most aggressive pollution-control mechanisms. Close to 1,000 illegal factory units process e-waste in Loni by dipping the scrap in acid drums and burning electronic parts to retrieve saleable metals, releasing copious amounts of toxic gases into the air. The factories won’t just go away, so the administration has proposed a major e-waste processing plant here. In 2021, the process of setting up the plant has to be expedited if Loni’s air quality levels are to improve.
