A new software that supports Covid–19 case investigations is being launched in the Western Upper Peninsula.
The technology also helps prioritize disease outbreaks, according to the Western U.P. Health Department.
When the health department is notified of a positive Covid test, the patient education genius system will send them a text message and email with a link to a survey.
The information helps the WUPHD identify who may spread the virus to others.
Timely isolation and quarantine practices can be another benefit of the program.
If a person does not respond to the text message or email, they may receive a phone call later from the health department staff.

With 12 more fatalities, the COVID-19 death toll climbed to 192 in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar on Wednesday, according to official data.
The district had registered 12 COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday as well.
With 903 fresh cases, Gautam Buddha Nagar’s COVID-19 tally went up to 38,519, while the number of active cases reached 7,202, according to the figures released by the U.P. Health Department for a 24-hour period.
A total of 588 patients got discharged during the period, with the cumulative number of recoveries reaching 31,125 in the district, the fifth highest in the State, it showed.
Meanwhile, the number of active dropped to 3,00,041 in Uttar Pradesh from 3,06,458 on Tuesday.

The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar rose to 129 on Thursday with 11 more fatalities, the highest in a day till date, while 530 new cases pushed the infection tally to 32,133, official data showed.
The district’s active case tally reached 4,088 from 4,009 the previous day, according to the figures released by the U.P. Health Department for a 24-hour period.
On the brighter side, 444 patients got discharged during the period, taking the total number of recoveries to 28,450, the fifth highest in the State, it showed.
The death toll in Gautam Buddha Nagar rose to 129 and the mortality rate is 0.39%. The recovery rate of patients reached 87.09%, statistics showed.
Uttar Pradesh s Gautam Buddh Nagar recorded 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday that pushed the district s infection tally to 25,664, official data showed. The active cases in the district rose to 84 from 75 the previous day, according to the data released by the UP Health Department for a 24-hour period. Another eight patients got discharged during the period with the overall recoveries reaching 25,489, the fifth highest in the state, it showed. Gautam Buddh Nagar has a death toll of 91 with a mortality rate of 0.35 per cent. The recovery rate of patients reached 99.31 per cent, the statistics showed. Meanwhile, the number of active COVID-19 cases in UP came down marginally to 1,817 from 1,819 on Friday while the overall recoveries reached 5,94,550 and the death toll reached at 8,745 on Saturday, the data showed.
Other counties in the U.P. are doing well too.
About 20 percent of people in Iron County have received the vaccine and more than 15 percent of Gogebic County residents have been vaccinated.
Jessica Bessner, the Aspirus Regional Director of Pharmacy for the Upper Peninsula, said over half of community members in the 65 and older age group have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
But because of issues with fluctuating supply, Aspirus still has a full docket of vaccine appointments.
“We are still working through our final lists of 65 plus patients and we’re trying to make sure those people get their appointments in,” Bessner said.
