With a rapid decline in the number of new Covid-19 cases in Agra, several private hospitals in the district have started reducing the number of beds reserved for Covid patients in order to cater to patients with other ailments.
According to government sources, only 26 new Covid cases were detected on Tuesday in Agra. Active cases in the district stand at 695, most of which are in home isolation. Oxygen beds were freely available at the SN Medical College and District Hospital, sources said.

A record single-day spike of 34,379 COVID-19 cases and 195 fatalities pushed Uttar Pradesh s infection tally to 9,76,765 and the death toll due to the disease to 10,541, the state government said on Thursday.
As many as 16,514 patients recovered from the disease in the state in a span of 24 hours, taking the total count of recoveries to 7,06,414, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said in Lucknow.
On Wednesday, the state registered 33,214 cases of the viral disease and 187 deaths. Uttar Pradesh now has 2,59,810 active cases of the infection, of which over two lakh are in-home isolation, Prasad said.

The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose by 162, to cross the 10,000-mark on Tuesday while 29,754 fresh cases pushed the tally of infections in the state to over nine lakh, according to a senior official. The number of recoveries has increased with over 14,391 patients discharged in the past 24 hours. A total of 6,75,702 people have so far recuperated from the disease in the state leaving 2,23,544 active cases, Additional Chief Secretary, Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters. The death toll in the state is now 10,159 while total number of cases are 9,09,405. Of the total active cases, 1,76,760 are in home isolation, 4,455 are undergoing treatment in private hospitals and the rest are admitted in government hospitals, he said.
