DOLE to prioritize areas under strict alert levels for jobs aid

(File photo) MANILA - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday said it is ready to provide employment assistance under Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) program to areas placed under strict alert levels amid the coronavirus pandemic. "We will still look into the areas that possibly will not shift to a lower alert level then we will refocus our target there. Compared to areas where the economy is relaxed, they could (not) go about with their day-to-day economic activities. So that will be the first thing DOLE will do to refocus on those areas that need it," lawyer Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla, director of the agency's Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC), said in a virtual forum. Zambo City records 12 more Omicron variant cases

Zamboanga City Health Office (File photo) ZAMBOANGA CITY - The city health office has recorded 12 additional cases of Omicron variant of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) here but all have recovered. Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Wednesday they received the results of the new cases on February 11 coming from the Philippine Genome Center. "With this, Zamboanga City now has a total of 29 identified Omicron cases with the first 17 detected cases reported last February 3," Miravite said. Aside from the new Omicron cases, the February 11 genome sequencing result also included one new Delta variant case for the city, Miravite said. She said the report indicated the presence of Omicron, Delta, Beta, and Alpha variants. "Just like the 17 Omicron cases reported last February 3, all the new cases identified have recovered," she added. The graduation rites of the program which was conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education- Technical Education and Skills Development (MBHTE-TESD) and the Office of Bangsamoro Member of Parliament (MP) Diamila Disimban-Ramos took place last January 20 at the Marawi Resort Hotel inside the Mindanao State University in Marawi City. The skills training which commenced on Nov. 8, 2021, has benefitted 25 scholars for the Dressmaking course which ran for 38 days, and 25 scholars for the Bread and Pastry course that ran for 21 days.
