Steve Lulofs of Huntley wasn t always into barbecuing. But after he bought a smoker about seven years ago, it snowballed into him bottling his own barbecue sauces and selling them to about 900 grocery stores nationwide. Now, he donates 50% of his profits to veterans groups.
Along a stretch of South McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley completed a nine-home subdivision project called Fox Valley Farms. The first family moved to their new home in July 2020, and the sale of the final home was completed this summer, nearly three years later.
Immanuel Lutheran is hosting their sixth annual Free Dinner for Veterans on Sunday, Nov. 12. As in years past, the dinner will be catered by Aliano s in East Dundee.
