unscreened foreign nationals from afghanistan on the planes, hundreds of thousands of people and only 3% qualified to come in. some of them are terrorists. i ve been very good at predicting did you ever hear that? you are going to be paying for that, we are going to be paying for that for many years to come, republicans should vote to restore my strong policy prohibiting refugee resettlement without the approval of local government, under the defund the police mantra, they want to defund the police. [boos] our high crime and democrat run cities are also being ravaged by the scorch of violent crime, its violence. last year, philadelphia here we are in the commonwealth of pennsylvania, we have to talk about philadelphia where frankly i went to college, a very wonderful place called the wharton school of finance.
well, listen, title 42 really is the only mechanism right now that is keeping our country from being completely overwhelmed and inundated even though it already is being overwhelmed and inundated. this is the last barrier that s in place. when elizabeth warren talks about it being inhumane and not consistent with our values. i wish the democrats supporting removal of title 42 would come out and say we want an open border. we believe everyone should come on in unscreened, unvetted and unsettled in the united states. that s really what they re saying. i will say this about title 42. eventually it will expire. eventually the cdc is going to say that maybe covid isn t such risk anymore and we should all move back on with our lives. which i agree with that s why there does need to be comprehensive immigration reform. we need remain in mexico. we need a process to make sure that our country is not being completely overwhelmed and not a free for all at our southern border. we need to finish
terrorists all over the world which is happening and happens quite frequently. the second was this train and assist mission to build up local partners on the ground. that has not been working. that has been incredibly fraught with problems. the third was working with turkey to seal the border. turkey has become a major part of this problem. it s the main gateway that isis uses to get in and out of the country, and the main gateway for refugees who are generally unchecked and unscreened. that doesn t seem to be working. his fourth point was try and find a political solution for syria. which would be fantastic, but that is quite a tough challenge. let s talk about that, because one of the reasons why isis has been able to garner such strength is because a lot of displaced sunnis are more likely than not to allow isis to proceed forward who do not feel they have a voice in the future of syria or the future of iraq.
turks, from the golf state, even from russia. everybody has a part to play in this, particularly in this fight against isis, who s an enemy against us all. and i think what we need to do, and i think when the tragic incident took place in paris, the secretary of state, kerry, was in vienna talking to world leaders, trying to bring folks together so they could focus on what we need to do so that we could make sure we stamp out isis. and i think the first thing is, we ve got to stop the civil war that s taking place in syria. well, that is obviously at the top of the priority list for the president of the united states, and there does seem to be at least some conversations going on. we saw it earlier this week between the u.s., president obama, and president putin. we know that president hollande is going to be going to the oval office and then going to moscow to talk to vladimir putin. but we ve known for a long time, congressman, that the world needed to come together, that we
are having fun kicking him around, and who can blame them, he s kicked them pretty hard. i think the debate over syrian refugees is the public groping for a language to talk about something that is a more real problem. we ve seen the breakdown of security cooperation inside europe. mentioned belgian police were talking to each other. there is a large, disaffected population within europe, probably about one-sixth of their muslim minority is susceptible to various messages of radicalism. and people from france and belgium and the united kingdom can fly to the united states without a visa, whatever backgrounds they have, and that s as it should be. but those borders are not tight. and with the collapse of europe s border enforcement to accept a huge influx of more than a million refugees in 2015 on top of hundreds of thousands that came in 2014, unscreened, uncontrolled in this giant surge, there s a lot to worry about. even if the exact language that the public has is not precise langua
