The Lok Sabha secretariat has released a booklet today ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament, listing words which will now be considered ‘unparliamentary’ in the two Houses. Read this story and see how many such words you can spot.
The Lok Sabha secretariat on Wednesday released a booklet terming the use of certain words like 'jumlajeevi', 'baal buddhi', 'Covid spreader', 'Snoopgate' and even commonly used words like 'ashamed', 'abused' and'betrayed' as “unparliamentary” in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The rules of the Indian Parliament have been borrowed from its British counterpart, which has recorded the ‘expunging’ of words or expressions during its proceedings from as early as 1604.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that no words have been banned and the booklet only contains a compilation of the words that have been expunged in Parliament previously.
